Cookies on this site
Three first-party cookies, none of them for advertising, and nothing from a third party until you accept it.
This page explains which cookies this website uses, what each one does and how you can control them. It applies to everyone who visits nakavision.com. The short version: the site sets one small cookie of its own when you choose a language, one when you answer the cookie banner, and nothing from anyone else unless you accept analytics — which is switched off at the time of writing.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits — to remember a setting, keep you signed in or recognise your browser for statistics. The law, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), lets a site set cookies that are strictly necessary for something you asked for without asking you, and requires your consent for everything else, such as analytics. This site asks before setting anything that is not necessary.
Cookies we set ourselves
These are first-party cookies, set by nakavision.com alone. None is used for advertising or shared with anyone.
- nv_locale — remembers the language you chose with the language switch, for one year. It is set only when you use the switch; if you simply read the site in the language you arrived in, it is never set. Functional; no consent needed.
- nv_consent — records your answer to the cookie banner (accepted or declined) for 180 days, so that the banner does not ask again on every page. It is set only when you press a button on the banner and holds nothing but that answer. Strictly necessary to honour your choice; no consent needed.
- nv_session — a sign-in session for the people who manage this site. It is set only when a member of staff signs in to the management area, and never for a visitor.
Analytics and session replay — only with your consent
We would like to know how the site is used. When analytics is enabled — it is switched off at the time of writing, so the banner does not appear and nothing below is loaded — a banner asks you on your first visit. Nothing from either service reaches your browser until you press Accept, and if you decline, the site works exactly the same.
Google Analytics 4
Counts visits and page views; provided by Google. It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier, which last up to two years and tell one browser from another. We configure it to shorten your IP address and with advertising features disabled, so it stores nothing for advertising.
Capturly
Records how a page is used — mouse movement, clicks and scrolling — as a session replay we can watch to see where the site is confusing. It sets its own cookies to tell one visit from the next; Capturly’s documentation lists them. Capturly is never loaded on a page that contains a form, and form fields are marked so that they cannot be recorded, so a replay never contains anything you type.
Embedded videos
Videos on the site are hosted on YouTube but are click-to-load: the page shows a still image, and nothing is requested from Google or YouTube until you press play. When you do, the video is loaded from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, and Google’s cookie policy applies from that moment.
How to change your choice
When the banner is in use, the “Cookie settings” link in the footer opens it again so that you can accept or decline afresh. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser’s settings. Blocking nv_locale only means the site stops remembering your language between visits; blocking nv_consent means the banner asks again on each visit.
Your rights and the law
Consent for cookies is governed by PECR. Any personal data the analytics services collect is covered by the UK GDPR and by our privacy notice, which explains your rights and how to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes to this document
We update this page when a cookie is added, removed or changed — in particular when analytics is switched on. The date it was last updated is printed at the top of this page.
