Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions we are asked most about the C1 — setting up, the app, recorders, warranty and privacy. If yours is not here, contact support.
Good to know
Do I need a subscription to use the C1?
No. Live view, recording to a microSD card or to your own NVR or NAS, alerts and playback all work without any subscription. Cloud storage is an optional third-party service inside the iCSee app.
Which app does the C1 use?
The free iCSee app on iOS and Android, developed by Hangzhou Jftech Co., Ltd. XMeye works too, as does any ONVIF-S compatible recorder or software such as BlueIris on Windows or SecuritySpy on Mac.
Does it work with my existing NVR?
The C1 is an ONVIF Profile S device, so it streams to most third-party recorders and video-management software. The compatibility matrix on the support page lists what we have tested.
Can I record without an internet connection?
Yes. Recording to the microSD card (up to 128 GB) and to an NVR, NAS or computer on your own network needs no internet connection. Viewing remotely on your phone does.
Where does the AI run — is my footage sent anywhere?
Human detection runs on the camera's own XM535xAI processor. Nothing leaves your home unless you choose to view remotely or enable a cloud service.
What does the warranty cover, and for how long?
The C1 comes with a two-year manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Keep your proof of purchase; registering your camera makes a claim simpler.
How do I update the firmware?
Check your current version in iCSee, then download the latest release from the support page — every release is published with its SHA-256 checksum. Update over a stable connection and do not unplug the camera while it restarts.
Is the C1 suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. The housing is IP66-rated against rain and dust. Mount it under an eave where you can and keep the cable gland pointing down, and it will handle a British winter.
